Elasticopter is the world's first shape-changing drone. Today's drones have fixed chassis which are designed for carrying fixed sized payloads for maximazing performance. But in some applications, drones are required to carry different sized payloads which naturally affects the performance. USP of Elasticopter is its patent pending design uses scissor mechanism based chassis that can change its shape according to the payload size. By doing so, one can achieve perfect flight stability irrespective of payload's dimensions. This technology is the work of PhD student Suraj Bonagiri who spun-off a startup called Arka Aerospace. Currently, Elasticopter is in development supported by the Indian Armed forces under iDEX program.
